Dark Circles Around the Eyes?

Potatoes Please!

Are you greeted every morning by dark circles under your eyes? This is the number one sign that you’re not getting enough sleep. But what natural ways are there to get rid of dark circles? Well, the most obvious solution is to get more sleep. If you’re struggling to doze off at night then there is a whole list of things you can do to help. You can Compare different mattresses to find a better one than you currently have, avoid tablets and phones before you go to bed, etc.

Another method that is growing in popularity is the use of medical marijuana products. When it comes to pain relief, many report that it can help alleviate symptoms that they have suffered for a long time. If you’re curious, you can try some of the derivative products via a CBDistillery Coupon to gain a discount, or speak to your local doctor about the possible availability of this drug in your region so you can then look for products like CBD that can help you get to sleep.

If you’re looking for a more immediate solution then there is a dark circle buster found right in your own kitchen that is safe, effective and inexpensive. So what is this dark circle eradicator? Believe it or not, the humble potato has the ability to fend off dark undereye circles once and for all.

Why potatoes? According to My Dark Circles Blog, potatoes contain catecholase (or catechol oxidase), an enzyme that lightens skin. When potato, along with its effective enzyme, is placed under the eyes, dark circles get lighter. Eventually, with long term use of potato as an undereye treatment, dark circles can diminish to the point where they are practically invisible.

So how is potato actually used for dark circles?

The easiest way to implement potato into your beauty routine is to thinly slice a raw potato. Place one thin slice under each eye. Then you sit back and relax for approximately 30 minutes, twice daily.

The potato can simply be left on the counter during the day. When you are ready to treat your dark undereye circles, simply slice off a few thin pieces. Some people choose to keep the cut up potato in the refrigerator so they can grab it when they need it. The benefit of this technique is that you will always have an instantly cool, refreshing treat for tired eyes.

Looking for something you can make ahead? You can also make a paste for your undereyes. To make a potato undereye paste, peel and wash a potato. Cut the potato into small slices or cubes.

Next, blend the raw potato until you have a thick, almost paste-like consistency. Spread the raw potato puree under your eyes, relax for 30 minutes (again, twice daily), then rinse your face with tepid water.

Using this potato puree technique means that you will have at least a few days worth of potato dark circle treatment waiting for you in your refrigerator. When you want to treat your undereyes, simply reach for your container of pureed potato.

Dark circles occur for a variety of reasons and can differ greatly from one person to the next. Allergies, nutrition, sinus congestion, insomnia, fatigue, stress or genes can all be responsible for stubborn undereye circles. Step back, evaluate your life and see if you can make some healthy and positive changes. For example, if you’ve noticed that you’re not sleeping well currently, the dark circles are probably the result of a lack of sleep. You might want to consider looking at changing your mattress if you’re struggling to get a good night’s rest. Mattresses can go bad, which is why it’s recommended that they’re replaced every 8 years. If you’ve not swapped your mattress in that time, it might be worth looking for one of the best adjustable beds available. With an adjustable bed, people who struggle to sleep can move their bed until they find a comfortable position. Hopefully, having consistent sleeping patterns will begin to erase these dark circles naturally. However, you could also keep applying that wondrous potato treatment, and watch your dark undereye circles disappear! Another thing to consider is the use of tear trough filler treatment to make dark under eyes appear more refreshed and plumper.

Tea bags as a remedy for dark circles

The caffeine in tea bags acts as a remedy for dark circles by diminishing puffiness. Caffeine in tea helps to diminish water in the tissues around the eyes (you’ll notice that many early eye circle creams contain caffeine for this very reason). In addition, tea contains antioxidants that are beneficial to the skin.

Take a used tea bag (green, black or white) that’s been squeezed out. Make sure it’s cool! Leave it over your eyes for about 10 minutes. You’ll see a noticeable improvement in puffiness and under-eye circles. Be careful not to get tea in your eyes.

Herbal tea bags are not useful as a remedy for dark circles, except for chamomile tea. Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory that can help reduce swelling and puffiness.

The Faithful Cucumber!

The most effective remedy for dark circles is also the most cliche. Thin slices of cucumber applied to your eyes not only helps to lighten the skin, but also soothes and cools the eyes. This can be especially comforting if you’ve been up late the night before or your eyes are red and tired from allergies or staring at a laptop screen.

Lay down on your back (because it’s easier to balance the cucumber slices that way). Lay thin slices of cucumber on your eyes, making sure they have contact with the skin under the eyes. Leave them on for 5-10 minutes. It’s a good idea to set your alarm clock if you’re doing this early in the morning. Be careful not to get cucumber juice in your eyes.

(For medical concerns, consult your physician)
