A few months ago, we commemorated the 80th birth anniversary of Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, wife of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Words cannot express how much we enjoyed ourselves. It is an honor to be able to honor such an outstanding Servant of God who has been a perfect example of a help-meet to her husband. Not only is she the Mother of 9 biological children but she also acts as a beloved Mother of the entire Nation of Islam.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that “Heaven lies at the foot of Mother.” In an article written in our Final Call newspaper, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan wrote in regards to that teaching “If we believe that heaven lies at the foot of mother, what kind of mother is it that heaven lies at her feet? It is a mother whose heart, mind, and soul is fixed on Allah (God) His Thoughts and His Ways that are found in the Words of Allah (God) in the scriptures of the Bible and Qur’an. In order for heaven to be at the woman’s foot or mother’s foot, mother has to be in complete submission or surrender of her life to the Will of Almighty (God) Allah.” So here in the Minister’s words is some insight into the life’s journey that all of our Mothers of the Faithful have been on and I’m sure are still on. All of them have been strong advocates in our peoples search for Freedom, Justice and Equality.
Justice for our people sounds like music to our ears but as Minister Ishmael Muhammad asked a few weeks ago during our National Webcast on Sunday’s, “What are we willing to sacrifice to achieve Justice?” Sisters, are we willing to stop tolerating and displaying disrespect to each other for justice? Brothers are you willing to discontinue the disrespect of your women for the cause of justice?
The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad wrote in the book “Message to the Black Man in America”, “Until we learn to love and protect our woman, we will never be a fit and recognized people on the earth. The White people here among you will never recognize you until you protect your woman.” So the respect and the protection of the black woman is another important ingredient in our quest for Justice and experiencing the Heaven that lies at her feet family (smile).
I am going to close with this: People say that there is no greater love than Mother’s love. That’s because the Mother who cares for her child, acts as a God to that child until the child reaches an age of understanding and that Mother reintroduces that child to the God that he/she was alone with in that Mother’s womb. The example of a loyal servant and believer in God is the greatest demonstration of love that a Mother can give a child and that is what has been given to us in the Nation of Islam by the Mothers of the Faithful.
Peace & Love,
Sister Shimah Muhammad
